Ethics in Education

At Florida Prep, the safety and well-being of every student is our highest priority. As part of our commitment to a safe learning environment, we adhere to all state regulations and internal policies regarding the ethical conduct of employees and the protection of children.

All Florida Prep employees—including instructional personnel, administrators, and staff—are required to:

  • Complete Level II background screening and fingerprinting
  • Undergo training on child abuse prevention and mandatory reporting procedures
  • Abide by the school’s Standards of Ethical Conduct

In compliance with Florida Statutes Section 1006.061(1) and (2), we maintain and display notices that:

  1. All employees and agents of Florida Prep have an affirmative duty to report all actual or suspected cases of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
  2. All instructional personnel and school administrators are required to report misconduct that affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student.

Misconduct Reporting Procedures

All employees must report misconduct by instructional personnel or school administrators that could jeopardize a student’s safety or well-being.

  • Behavior that violates professional boundaries

Failure to report such misconduct may result in disciplinary action, including termination, and is subject to penalties under Florida law.

Child Abuse Reporting Procedures

All Florida Prep personnel are legally mandated reporters. If you witness or suspect any instance of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect, you are required by Florida Statute 39.201 to report it immediately to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Central Abuse Hotline.

To report abuse:

If you have a concern:

  1. Notify your division head or school counselor.
  2. If unavailable, contact the Head of School or another school administrator.
  3. A joint determination will be made on whether to file a report.
  4. If required, the staff member (with administrative support) must make a report to the DCF hotline.

Florida law provides legal immunity to those who report suspected abuse in good faith (see F.S. 39.203 and 768.095).

Failure to report suspected abuse may result in disciplinary action or criminal penalties.
