Robotics Team Continue Winning Streak This Season

The Florida Prep Robotics team concluded their second year of participation in the ‘Florida Space Coast Robotics League’ ranked #6 among the 23 teams participating, placing them one step ahead of their strong 7th place performance in their initial year.

The team again received a Florida High School Robotics Mini-Grant from the L3Harris Corporation; one of only 3 teams to receive this sponsorship, to the value of $2,750.

Participating in 7 rounds, the Florida Prep team began the year in 14th place, but made solid progress though-out the competition thanks to a complete re-tool of their robot after a seemingly disastrous start to the season. The 6 person team logged 432 hours in mechanical and participation hours throughout the season, including one 12 hour stretch during which they worked to make major changes to the robot with a tight deadline looming.

Each of the six team members had a specific role to play, and team coach Xifan Liu, Ph.D. offered guidance through-out the season. L3Harris team sponsors Mr. Waller and Mr. Mangra also invested considerable hours in supporting the team throughout the season.
Although two founding members of the Robotics team will this year graduate Florida Prep; Ryan Mangra & Jessie Rebeix, the foundation laid this year ensures the team will remain strong and competitive for the 2021/22 season.
