Four years ago, when reviewing the new names for the Student Houses at Florida Prep, we considered astronauts that not only inspired us but also made a difference to science and humanity.
One of those astronauts was Christina Koch.
With a remarkable 3 missions as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for Expeditions 59, 60, and 61, Koch also holds the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, with a total of 328 days in space, and participated in the first all-female spacewalk. For the past three years, she has been the figurehead for the Florida Prep Koch House.
In an announcement issued by NASA on Tuesday, April 3, 2023, Christina Koch achieved another milestone; NASA announced her as a member of the Artemis II mission to venture around the moon!
As she continues to push back boundaries, inspire the world, and certainly smash the glass ceiling, Florida Prep could not ask for a more inspirational figurehead for our students.
Congratulations to the entire Artemis II crew on this historic mission!
