As the winter holidays, and a New Year approach, now is a good time to ask, “Am I satisfied with my child’s education?”
Given the return to in-person classes, we are currently hearing from many parents, who answered a resounding NO to that question. Not only are they finding themselves increasingly dissatisfied with the progress made by their students during the first and second quarters of the year, but also the slow return to normality, and the lack of focus on core subjects such as Math, English and Science.
Many report teachers reluctant to engage with students to the extent they did in the past, a preference by teachers for on-line learning, and shifting schedules; all of which are placing a further burden on parents, many of whom are endeavoring to return to the workplace themselves.
We are also speaking with parents; within the USA and abroad, worried that looming and ongoing lock-downs will again subject their children to online classes, mandatory mask wearing and prohibitive restrictions to their personal freedom.
At Florida Prep our classes are conducted in person, with any restrictions kept to a minimum. The state of Florida is returning to normality, with few, if any, regulations related to the ongoing pandemic.
Joining Florida Prep in January offers your child the opportunity to ‘try-out’ a boarding school with an end date clearly in sight. Day students may also find a trial period beneficial; 6 months of small classes and individual attention can equate to an increase in grades, a reset in their learning attitude, and a return to ‘student participation’ in sports, clubs and the school community as a whole.
Financially, Florida Prep is also more affordable than you may imagine. To assist incoming families we are continuing to offer scholarships to motivated students, and payment plans are available to suit all budgets. We also accept Florida State scholarships, including Step-Up, Hope and Florida Empowerment.
