Florida Preparatory Academy, has offered world-class flight training for more than 55 years. Designed to meet the standards of the individual student, our programs teach not only the basics of aviation, but responsibility and decision-making skills as well.
FPA students must be 16 years old to begin the Private Pilot Training Program. This program is designed to work in conjunction with each participating student’s individual academic, athletic and club interest. Most students in the program complete the Private Pilot course in 30-40 flight hours, however this number can vary greatly due to the age, interest level and the academic rigor of each student.
Our aviation flight school programs are structured as an elective and do not interfere with the academic day. Experienced flight instructors are fully licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration. A Flight Coordinator employed by the Academy monitors each student's progress, ensuring that the highest quality and safety standards are maintained.
Training aircraft are located at Voyager Aviation LLC a full-service facility located at the Merritt Island Airport, approximately 25 minutes drive away from campus. Single and twin engine aircraft are available for student training.
All flight training fees are paid directly to Voyager Aviation. This ensures students are fully insured to a level that covers flight training requirements.
Details of the courses offered to Florida Prep students may be found at voyageraviation.com
Please note, before they may fly, all international students are required by law to obtain TSA clearance and must go through a government security check conducted by an independent party chosen by TSA.
