Middle School (Grades 5-8)

The Middle School program at Florida Preparatory Academy provides a well-developed and enriching environment. Fifth, Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students rotate through an seven period schedule with five core classes, two elective periods, and a separate lunch time.  During the day, all students will be instructed in the core areas of science, social studies, mathematics, and English. For the 2016-2017 school year we will be adding an additional core class called the Writing Lab.  This class will allow students to focus academic time on writing in a cross curricular nature.  In order to help solidify the fundamental knowledge needed for each course, field trips related to these subjects occur on a regular basis.

Students in the middle school are exposed daily to the importance of organization, goal-setting, planning for the future, and preparation for high school. Each student’s curriculum is constructed to put them at the best possible advantage for high school, and for future opportunities. Middle school students are not segregated by instructional levels but may challenge themselves through a wide variety of differentiated instruction or by taking High School-level regular and Honors level courses.

Field Trips:

In addition to academic enrichments, middle school students are exposed to a multitude of activities throughout the year. This includes a week long series of trip during excursion week.  Each trip is designed to enhance and build on an area of curricular material covered in one of the five core subject areas.
